  • HI AND WELCOME TO MY SHARK PAGE.

I got interested in Sharks back in the 70s, after watching a certain film at the local cinema. Ever since then i've had a fascination about them. Sharks are the largest and most feared creature in the sea today. Yet most kinds are harmless, out of over 250 different kinds of Shark , no more than 2\3 dozen kinds have ever attacked humans. The most commonest attackers are Whaler and Bull Sharks, because they tend to like warm coastal waters , where swimmers and divers are likely to be. They like to hunt inshore areas , often entering sheltered bays and swimming upriver. Tiger Sharks and Hammerhead Sharks have also being known to swim near coastal waters. Blue and White tip Sharks , both known to have attacked people , prefer the open ocean . They are fast swimming fish and bigger than their coastal cousins . The White tip is proberly the commonest, largest Shark in the sea.

The Great White Shark has the reputation of being the biggest and most feared fish in the sea today. It often grows to 5\6 metres in length, However ones as 12 metres have being known to exist, one this size was caught at Port Fairy Australia. Altough the great White has been blamed for a many a terrible death , it normally lives far away from land and rarely meets human beings..

The diagram on the left shows what was in a stomach of a Great White , which was caught of Port Jackson Australia ...8 legs of mutton, half a ham , back end of a pig, front end of a dog, sacking, ships scraper, and 130kg of horsemeat. it had learned rich pickings were to be had in harbours. ..... The 2nd diagram was of a Tiger Shark . In it was small hammerhead shark, another shark which was in 8 pieces and a chunk of Turtle...and a Dolphins head which is rare....

Evil....cowardly.....cunning.... so we sometimes talk about Sharks, just as if they were monsters . But Sharks are simply big powerful fish, that are superb at hunting and killing . their tiny brains are no match for ours, like most animals , Sharks are not even clever enough to be evil or cunning. Sharks prey on a wide range of things and hunger drives them hard. This is why they attack us when we sometimes get in their way. And also why they are are so easy to catch with baited hooks. Fortunately Sharks do not enter our world to kill us the way we kill them, so there is no reason to fear them or hunt them like criminals... Large Sharks are now becoming rare , 10yrs ago you could catch a 20 ft great white , now you are more likely to catch a 15 ft one . The film Jaws (Jaws2) and blue water white death , have put many a shiver up ones back, and even made people think twice of going into the water. most people think all sharks are killers but really, they are some of the worlds most beautiful and gracious creatures alive..
